Head Chef

Peter has been the head chef at Cassels for more than 15 years. Prior to this Peter has worked in top kitchens around the world and as a chef on leading cruise liners.
Together with his team, he is passionate about bringing you an exciting, fresh and innovative cuisine. It is said that Cassels kitchen takes food to the next level, and he is honoured to lead the team that delivers such excellence.
Peter loves generating new ideas and menus, making the most of our abundant local produce. His team are more than happy to tailor Cassels menus to suit your needs and dietary requirements.

Michelle De Silva

Patisserie Chef

Michelle has worked at Cassels for more than 15 years. Her extensive kitchen experience also includes 10 years at five star hotels in Christchurch, Auckland and Sydney.
Working alongside Peter, Michelle is dedicated to the continuing development of Cassels’ ingredients and menus. Using the best ingredients available, they serve food that is fresh, seasonal and made right here in the Cassels kitchen – including the dessert and sauces. She also makes fabulous wedding cakes.

Kathy Thomas

Staff Manager & Event Assistant

Kathy comes from a customer service background and has more than 10 years’ of experience in the operation and organisation of weddings at Cassels.
Along with a dedicated team of staff, Kathy works tirelessly to ensure that every detail, preference and individual requirements of a clients’ special occasion at Cassels is met. In her own words, she loves to “make things happen”.
